BAREL - Barel Since 1993 we have developed and manufactured electronics for OEM customers within the markets for international lighting and heating industry. We have specialized in electronic ballasts and emergency lights for use in hazardous areas (Ex), and emergency light units for use in non hazardous areas. Today you will find our products spread globally, installed by our customers at; Chemical factories, cruise ships, private yachts, gas stations, oil platforms and refineries, public buildings, airports and private homes. Product assembly is done at one of our two factories, depending on volumes and technology to be used. In Kirkenes we have automated production and handle high volumes, as well as R&D, prototyping and some manual assembly. Our subsidiary company in Murmansk, OOO BR Electronics, handles labor-intensive products with large degree of manual labor. This flexible model allows us to move production between our facilities depending on volumes, lead times, and customer preferences.

Barel is mainly manufacturing electronics and accessories for lighting appliances.

Ex-products

Barel is a manufacturer and supplier of electronic equipment for use in Ex-luminaires. This includes electronic ballasts with or without emergency light inverter, lamp holders and batteries.

Barel’s production complies with the regulations under ATEX, IECEx and INMETRO.

Ex-products are made for use in areas which can have a potential explosive atmosphere. An explosive atmosphere for the purposes of Directive 2014/34/EU is defined as a mixture of air and flammable substances in the form of gases, vapours, mists or dusts.

For gases, vapours and mists the zone classifications are:

    Zone 0: A place in which an explosive atmosphere consisting of a mixture with air of dangerous substances in the form of gas, vapour or mist is likely to occur in normal for more than 1000hrs per year.
    Zone 1: A place in which an explosive atmosphere consisting of a mixture with air of dangerous substances in the form of gas, vapour or mist is likely to occur in normal operation between 10-1000hrs per year.
    Zone 2: A place in which an explosive atmosphere consisting of a mixture with air of dangerous substances in the form of gas, vapour or mist is not likely to occur in normal operation but, if it does occur, will persist for less than 10hrs per year.

Barel’s Ex-products are certified for use in Zone 1 / EPL Gb, category II 2G.

Emergency Lighting

Barel is manufacturing emergency light inverters for use in luminaries using batteries for emergency operation. Our emergency light inverters incorporate five-pole technology for use with both HF and Magnetic ballasts. They are suitable for different types of lamps: T5, T8, TC-S/E, TC-L, TC-DD/E, TC-TE and T-R-16. In addition, they feature preheat starting and permanent cathode heating during emergency operation.
